Uncle Oscar

Oscar, my brother with the beautiful soul, the artist, the brother who got so excited to buy my children books - bilingual books in English/Spanish, a book by Jane Kurtz and beautiful art books for kids - is leaving in a few weeks to teach English in Korea for a year or two. OR TWO! I am going to miss my Oscar. I am so happy for my brother, but sad that my children will be introduced to him only in photos for a while. One of the great benefits of being the oldest, is the pride you feel in your younger siblings. I am so proud of Oscar. He has made his own way in this world. He is a seeker. He is authentic. It has been fun to watch him grow.

My dear little ones,

This is your Uncle Oscar. He will show you his paintings, read you poetry and play the guitar for you one day. He is a good listener. He is very unique. You mama misses him already.

Kisses,

Sua mamae

  1. Well now you've made me cry on the train on the way to work. Paintings, poetry and songs? We should all have an Uncle Oscar.

  2. There's always Skype! Amazing how making funny faces at ones' nieces/nephews on Skype builds bonds :)

  3. I just introduced my younger sister, who is living in Austria, to Turo this week on Skype. Turo even put his hand to the screen while they were "talking." Good luck to Oscar - what an adventure for him.
